We woke up with clouds and rain, which during a late breakfast luckily changed into blue sky and sunshine. We wanted to try one more time our new board.
It was again a beautiful day. We were the only people in the beach of Laida and we had private lifeguards (here in Bizkaia all the beaches seem to be very well maintained and have lifeguards service all summer).
We were having fun playing and riding the waves, however we had to leave, we were going to meet a friend. But as we wanted to drive off the van started beeping and all the dashboard lights came on. The engine didn’t start, oeps. Problem. Flat battery.
Maria threw in her charms to get help jump starting the van and off we were.
The friend lives in a beautiful baserri – Baque farmhouse – which they are restoring. After a proper Spanish lunch with a proper tortilla de patatas we drove off to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a very beautiful spot that Maria wanted to show to Me. She remembers it as a quiet place, however it featured in the game of thrones series and is now super busy. Luckily we were there at the end of the day. Still an amazingly pretty spot on the wild Basque coast.
Close to there is Bakio, where we ended the day. Next morning an early surf session was waiting for us 🙂
